Higher Education Opportunities

• James Kennedy Institute
  • The Institute is a college prep program available to Academy students. Organized and designed by James Kennedy, formerly a teacher at Abraham Lincoln High School, this program prepares students for higher education opportunities and introduces them to highly selective colleges that they may otherwise have overlooked. High achieving students identified by their Academy Coordinators meet with Mr. Kennedy for counseling, prepare applications, write essays and make overnight visits to college campuses. Transportation is paid for by the hosting college.

• College Expo
  • Two hundred Academy sophomores per day participate in college workshops and interactive sessions.

• College Tours
  • Tours are organized through the college department that best aligns with the career academy. Tours may involve a campus tour, admissions and financial aid presentations, a classroom visit, lunch with college students and/or professors of the hosting department.
